Hot.es, the last-minute mobile booking app that was created in a partnership with 2006 Les Roches Marbella postgraduate alumna, Adelaida Muriel, recently received the Best Business Start Up Award 2016 issued annually by Andalucía Business Club at a gala held on March 10th in Cordoba, Spain.
Currently, the Marbella based firm has agreements with around 5,000 hotels in over 333 cities in 55 different countries such as Spain, France, UK, Germany, Italy and Portugal, and Latin America (Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Argentina) and Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand). Hotels around the world publish their last-minute booking offers through the Hot.es mobile app. The app offers these hotels direct access to tens of thousands of flexible travellers who use both iOS and Android devices to arrange their last minute travel plans.
Hot.es started in 2012 with a commitment to offer the best rates on hotel rooms that could be booked last minute, Discounts for its users can add up to 50% of the room’s going rate and provide a bargain to guests while ensure that hotels maintain occupation and meet RevPar demands.
This latest award joins Hot Hotels growing recognition in the business world. In 2014 Adelaida and her partners were first recognized as the best Business Start Up of Andalusia, in a contest sponsored by Caixa Bank. Then in 2015 they were selected by Boston Tech Stars as the recipients of crucial funding and business planning assistance that has allowed them to since grow Hot.es into a leading international mobile booking application.
Adelaida explains that “every night thousands of hotel rooms in Spain alone remain unoccupied. Because of that, hotels lose an average of 1.5 million Euros per year in non-commercialized hotel rooms. The Hot Hotel app aims to help rectify this to the benefit of both the hotel and potential guests by matching travelers searching for a hotel with unoccupied rooms, usually for a fraction of the standard price.”
Upon finishing her Postgraduate Diploma in International Hospitality Management at Les Roches Marbella, Adelaida went on to work for Crowne Plaza and Mélia Hotels for several years before becoming an entrepreneur with the Hot.es last-minute app. She credits her past professional experience and training at Les Roches for giving her the tools to make her new business a success.
