Academic content

This is our most flexible program, enabling you to pair essential hospitality business learning with insights into one of six specialized topic areas.

Semester 1

Available to study at both our campuses, this first semester comprises topics relating to the business of hospitality, including financial and revenue management, marketing, business modeling, and event management.

*Mandatory for MBA, Master’s and PGD in International Hospitality Management students without a hospitality related degree or professional experience. Optional for the other students/programs. The Hospitality Immersion Program (HIP) runs in parallel to the 1st semester with courses on “Hospitality in Context”, “F&B Beverage Operations Management”, “Rooms Division Operations Management”.

Semester 3

At the end of your taught semester, you can choose between a professional internship or Business Research Project to earn your Master’s.

Internship: your six-month professional internship will place you directly into a hospitality setting, enabling you to put to the test what you learned in the previous semesters. This is our recommended option if you did not have significant hospitality industry experience before joining the program.

Business Research Project: working with a partner company, you will tackle a real-world business challenge, drawing upon the skills and knowledge you learned in class. This is our recommended option if you already accrued hospitality experience before joining the program.

FAQs

What is a Master’s degree in hospitality management?

A Master’s degree is a postgraduate qualification usually studied across one year, and which is focused on a specialized topic or subtopic. A Master’s degree in Hospitality Management zeroes in on the skills and knowledge required to manage within the global hospitality industry and all its related sectors.

For example, in your first semester you’ll learn about finance and performance management, marketing, event management, and business modeling – all within a hospitality/services economy context.

Is a Master’s in hospitality management worth it?

Yes it is, because it delivers a breadth of knowledge and skills that would be difficult to impossible for you to acquire at this level of detail through on-the-job experience.

Our Master’s in Hospitality Management with Specialization gives you the added benefit of being able to tailor your learning more closely to your future career ambitions, thanks to the six available specializations, delivering an even more favorable return on investment.

Is hospitality management a Master’s degree or MBA?

At Les Roches it is both – with hospitality management the focus of Master’s degrees and an MBA. These programs are tailored to different levels of prior qualification and professional experience. For example, the Master’s in Hospitality Management with Specialization is open to those with or without a Bachelor’s degree, provided non-graduates have relevant professional experience.

For our MBA in Hospitality Management, students must have a degree plus a minimum of two years’ relevant work experience, in keeping with the program’s leadership-focused content

What sets this Master’s in Hospitality Management program apart from others?

The unique advantage of this program is the ability it gives you to tailor your learning to your future career ambitions. Following one semester focused on core hospitality business content, you can then select a second semester that concentrates on one of six specializations.
