Les Roches Marbella International School of Hotel Management was selected for the 2015 Award for Excellence in Tourism during the XI edition of the prestigious Premios Excelencias presented on Wednesday, 20 January, during the International Tourism Fair (FITUR 2016) in Madrid. This year there were 35 distinguished groups and individuals to be honored with the recognition of excellence in the fields of tourism, culture, and gastronomy.
Rafael Anson, President of the Royal Academy of Gastronomy of Spain, and the President of Grupo Excelencias, Jose Carlos de Santiago, presented the award to Les Roches Marbella’s CEO, Carlos Díez de la Lastra. Upon presenting the award, Les Roches Marbella was recognized for its twenty plus years of training hotel management professionals who are currently directing hotels around the world. Also of local interest was the recipient of the Gourmet Excellence award who also comes from the Costa del Sol. Carlos Mena, Commercial Director of the Palacio de Congresos in Torremolinos, was recognized for his work in developing the Mediterranean Wine & Food Fair.
Additionally, other notable awards included the Silvia Zorzanello Award for Excellence as a tribute to her life’s work in Brazil, the Ramon Alvarez Award for distinguished personalities who have made outstanding achievements and contributions to the tourism industry, to an institution or personality committed to the field of tourism. Next is the Spirit of Excellence Award, for tourism-related projects whose essence represents the ideals of making the world a better place. Also, this year, the Nicolas Muela Award was introduced to honor projects focused on research and promotion of gastronomy around the world.
