Les Roches Marbella Global Hospitality Education has been awarded by the local civic association “Despertar sin Violencia” (Awaken Without Violence), for its commitment to the teaching of community values to its student body. Created in November 2008 in Marbella, the non-profit association is born out of the need to eradicate gender violence and domestic violence, and is a benchmark in the city, where it has served 1,900 women, 800 men, and more than 3,000 minors.
Since its founding, Les Roches Marbella has been committed to instilling ethical values as an integral part of its education system. The school carries out various community initiatives that include volunteer services, fundraising campaigns, and the dissemination of knowledge aimed at developing an informed community. The collaboration with associations such as “Awaken Without Violence” is crucial to the development of hospitality management professionals, since the objective of Les Roches Marbella, according to its CEO, Carlos Díez de la Lastra is “to train professionals and people who have the personal qualities needed to improve their environment and society as a whole. We base our entire system on fostering aptitudes and attitudes based on humility, discipline, and ethics.”
The awards ceremony, held in Marbella, was attended by prominent figures from the judicial world such as the chairman of the Spanish Senate’s judicial committee, Manuel Altava, Marbella district judge for violence against women, Juan José Navas, and the family court judge, Francisco Serrano Family, as well as representatives of the social and cultural world, and the president of the Association Awakening Without Violence, Carmen Sánchez.
Carlos Díez de la Lastra, who received the award on behalf of the members (teachers, students and administrative staff) of Les Roches Marbella, said that “it is an honor for us to receive this award and encourages us to continue promoting this type of initiative and to encourage values, among our students, supported by cooperation, solidarity and commitment “.
