Bachelor student Devesh Bhan loves it at Les Roches, but he didn’t want to sing our praises in a conventional way. So instead, here’s his light-hearted take on why you shouldn’t join us on campus…
I personally have no intention to sell you this school, as it is not my job to do that!
However, I truly believe that this school changes people deeply – impacting their lives for the betterment of their professional and personal growth. Les Roches gives you endless opportunities to showcase your talents, which in turn helps you to discover your inner potential.
Hospitality is a people-driven industry; hence mastering professionalism and focusing on leadership skills is the key to success.
In the span of one year, with just six months on campus (the other six months being my first internship), I was able to take up several leadership roles, like Class Delegate, Semester Representative and Student Ambassador.
I also joined clubs like Sharp Speakers and the Future of Hospitality Summit. And I was chosen to become a ‘Face of Les Roches’, which means I appear in this brochure which you can find all around the school lobby now!
After coming back to campus after my internship, I have taken the role of Vice President of Sharp Speakers club, which I was a member of in Semester 1. It is my initiative that has played its part in me seizing these opportunities, but I thank Les Roches for giving me this platform.
Therefore, I say don’t join Les Roches if…
1) You don’t want to get out of your comfort zone
No one has ever achieved success in any endeavour by being in their comfort zone. That’s why Les Roches has created a growth friendly environment for those who are striving for success, not only in hospitality but life as a whole. You can see this in the huge variety of student-led clubs and leadership role positions on offer. The “Les Roches way of life” instils a sense of responsibility in every student – which will definitely pay off in future.

2) You don’t want to study in a top hospitality school
Les Roches is recognized worldwide. It is a NECHE accredited institution (alongside places such as Yale and Harvard) and it has a great employer rating. You can find out much more about this in another part of this new-look website.
3) You don’t want to live the Les Roches way of life
The Les Roches way of life is full of adventure. Just like in the hospitality industry, no two days are the same. Schedules change and are different every day. This really helps us be flexible and adaptable to the industry’s requirements.
Part of our life is our business suit. Except during our BBA Practical Arts semester (when we have kitchen or service uniforms provided), as students we cannot enter the school campus without looking dashing and impeccable in our suits during school working hours. This not only is really cool and lets us be unique from other traditional non-hospitality schools, but it also helps us value human virtues like discipline and respect.
4) You don’t want to be part of the unique, global Les Roches community
Les Roches has a huge network of hospitality professionals all around the world. Whether they’re alumni or industry contacts, Les Roches has it all. Joining Les Roches makes you part of that community for life.
5) You don’t want to make LLFs!
“Business today works on networking”
What I mean by LLF here is Life Long Friends. Do you know the saying that “Your network is your net worth”? Business today works on networking – therefore it is essential to give it your focus. Here at Les Roches you will definitely meet fantastic people who are sure to stay on your speed dial!
