My name is Anna-Jessica and although I am originally from the Starnberg region of Southern Germany, I have been living in Spain since I was thirteen. I have studied in Spanish schools ever since and even earned a vocational degree with the intention of becoming a laboratory technician.
After eventually realizing that I needed to work with people and couldn’t be bound to one place, I began considering other career options. However, I wanted to be sure that my ultimate choice would not only offer me the opportunity to work directly with people but would also provide me with a set of versatile skills that could easily be put to use in numerous industries. The obvious choice came from a field I knew little about until I began to research it more extensively. The more I learned, the more fascinated I became with Hospitality Management. It met all of my criteria; it is most definitely people oriented and I know of no other profession that can be put to good use in such a wide variety of industries.
The decision was clear. I was going to go for it and study hospitality management. Once that was decided, the choice of schools was en easier one. Les Roches Marbella offered me Spain (there is no denying the advantages of studying in this country), an internationally accredited degree taught in English, a multi-cultural learning environment, a long history and industry reputation for its craft-based teaching approach, and the assurance of exciting career opportunities after graduation. What more could I ask for?
Three years later and I am proud to say, I have graduated with distinction in the Diploma in Hotel Management program. During these three years, I have not only been studying but also working and learning the practical skills demanded in the field of hospitality. As a result of the school’s practical hands-on approach to teaching, together with the international internship periods (one of which I undertook at the Grand Hyatt in Shanghai, China), I am not just a degree holder but an experienced professional who is ready to enter the field with a certain competitive edge that you don’t easily find in other schools.
Equally important to my education are the personal learning experiences I had during my years at Les Roches. The school became my home away from home and from day one I have been surrounded by the most amazing people who come from so many different cultures and nationalities. Each day at Les Roches offered a unique learning experience just from the interesting conversations I had with my colleagues and professors. I literally wanted to attend every class and every day for fear I would miss an opportunity to learn something new.
Today, although it is nice to take a moment to look back on the wonderful years at Les Roches Marbella, I am already hard at work building my future in this exciting industry. I’m sure there will be plenty to share as I undertake my next venture, so until next time, I wish everyone at Les Roches the best and I can’t wait to visit soon!
