I am deeply emotional to have experienced the strong and massive support given to Tomás Hart yesterday during the Blood Donation Campaign carried out in the School. The results are amazing (61 blood donations & 61 bone marrow donors)! Congratulations to all of you!
This campaign is living proof that Les Roches is not just a school, it is a way of life. The spirit that motivates us all daily shows especially that we are a family. Through your commitment, you have shown the true spirit of teamwork and solidarity and these without a doubt some of the most important values we hold at Les Roches Marbella.
It was amazing to see that even those of you with a fear of needles, with little time, stressed and studying for exams still came forward to support this cause. We know that some of you were not elegible to give blood due to your personal circumstances, however, your support still counts a great deal! Thank you again and again!
Tomás, to show our support and to let you know that we are all behind you, we recorded a video with everybody wishing you the best.
Be strong my friend, we will win this fight together!
For those of you who weren’t there, on Wednesday, May 22nd, Les Roches Marbella witnessed a very special occasion as students and staff came together to help 2010 alumnus Tomás Hart from Portugal, who was diagnosed with Leukemia and is in urgent need of a compatible bone marrow donor. We are all one big family at Les Roches and when we learned of Tomás’ struggle, we immediately set out to put our community into action in an effort to gather as many possible donors as we could.
We are proud of the overwhelming support that has poured in for Tomás and if ever there has been power in numbers, this is one occasion where everybody has given it their all. The actor Christopher Reeve famously said, “Once you choose hope, anything is possible” and when one of our own is in need of help, we come to their side and do everything we can to show that together, anything is possible.
The campaign is ongoing and even if you are not in Marbella, you can still volunteer for a blood test no matter where you are. Indeed, you could be the one who save’s this young man’s life! For full details on how you can participate, please contact me directly at the school by calling +34 952 76 41 45 or send me an email to sbecerra@lesroches.es.
