Hi everyone, and welcome to the Les Roches student life corner! I am Uliana Malysheva and I’m from Korolyov, a small town in Russia. I study Bachelor of Business Administration, and am currently finishing my final seventh semester. Events management has always interested me, and my biggest dream is to organize the Olympics. Therefore, I chose the Events specialization for my last semester at Les Roches.
I would like to share with you all my personal experiences at the OMEGA European Masters Event. I attended this event recently, spending three days there. Studying at Les Roches provides us with lots of opportunities to take part in major outside catering experiences, which is a nice way for students to earn some money. It also allows us to see how the event is organized. This time, I experienced the event as both a guest and as a kitchen crew member.
‘Life Cooking’ experience
In the kitchen, we first helped out with the set-up and then each of us was allocated to specific tasks. The ‘Life Cooking’ station was assigned to me, meaning I was directly in front of the guests, which is always a great opportunity to meet different people from around the world, as well as famous personalities! For example, I had the honour to talk to Michael Phelps, American swimmer and Olympic medal winner, attended the event for a charity program. Other celebrities such as Ed Westwick, Michelle Monaghan, Mike Tindall and Peter Forsberg were also here.

The following day, they invited myself and my friend Dominique along as guests. We evaluated the quality of service, as well as the management of the event in general. This gave us a chance to apply Les Roches classes to real life, and we were able to communicate and exchange contacts with companies who may potentially sponsor our school project.
I am very happy to be a student at Les Roches, because it has provided me with lots of opportunities, even outside the class. I will graduate very soon and I can honestly say I’m going to miss student life, as it has given me lots of friends, positive emotions and bright moments.
