The Future of Hospitality Summit runs from October 18th to October 20th, 2019 – and it’s open to all, with tickets now on sale! We take a look at what to expect…
- It’s by students, for students
Sharing. Networking. Discovering. The Future of Hospitality Summit is a student-led organization run by 11 Les Roches BBA students. The main purpose of this 3-day event is to bring students, faculty and staff members together with hospitality professionals and industry leaders to discuss innovative trends and changes in the hospitality industry. From keynote presentations to interactive workshops, students will get to participate in various activities and learn more about this ever-changing and exciting industry.
“FHS is the most innovative and disruptive event that is organized by Les Roches students for Les Roches students.” – Ingrid Schröder, Co-Head of FHS
- A sneak peek into your future career?
For those who decide to join the team, the Future of Hospitality Summit is a unique opportunity to acquire new skills that will be useful in the future. Organizing the catering, finding guest speakers, controlling the budget, taking care of the social media coverage of the event. You name it. Each member has something to bring; something which they love doing. And they offer the know how to contribute to the organization in their own way. What they learn from this experience will most certainly follow them throughout their future careers.
“I attended an FHS event when I was a BBA1 student and I was really impressed by what the team did and how the concept worked.” – Kristina Naumova, Head of Social Media of FHS
- There are four big themes around innovation and hospitality
From the multiple nationalities on campus to the types of interests, gender and level of education (bachelor, postgraduate and master), it is a necessity for the event to stay accessible to everyone who wants to attend the conferences, while covering topics that really grab people’s attention.
After reflecting and questioning students about what they would be expecting from the event, the team decided to choose four themes related to the hospitality industry:
Innovation and Food & Beverage; Digital Content; Future of Events; and Transportation
“We tried to cover the entire population of Les Roches students’ interests” – Ingrid Schröder.
- For the speakers: the younger the better?
Easily relating to someone is important for the younger generations. Listening to a CEO from a multinational company, it can be hard for students to imagine themselves in that person’s shoes. It seems so far away! So why not turn to younger entrepreneurs; people who are more into the actual operational activities of a company? Students participating in FHS should feel comfortable approaching the guest speakers. They should feel inspired by them. So this year the objective has been to invite younger speakers that can truly engage with the attendees, and make it fun and interactive!
“The goal is for people to feel excited about each conference.” – Kristina Naumova.
- You’ll get to see Accor’s brand-new pop-up hotel room on campus!
The most innovative aspect of this year’s FHS edition is the Accor Loft contest. The company will be bringing its new accommodation concept to campus: The Loft, a nomadic, self-contained, hotel room. The Accor Innovation Lab came up with this exciting project to offer new and “out-of-the-box” experiences to guests. The room will be presented during the event as part of the contest organized for Les Roches students.
Two students attending the 2019 Future of Hospitality Summit will be drawn at random before the event and will get to spend one night in the Loft during the weekend, along with five of their friends.
“That is something that FHS has never done before!” – Kristina Naumova.
