Student Ambassador Sesil Atan asks the question: what to do on the weekends when you are studying at Les Roches?
Having connections from all around the world. Waking up to the most inspiring views. Studying in one of the best hospitality schools… sounds like a dream, doesn’t it?
Campus life is fun, with lots of events put on by the school. You can see some of them in this video on our official YouTube page.
However, let’s not forget that we are living in a small village in the mountains. Sometimes it might feel a little bit isolated and we have the urge to get away for a weekend.
Well, no problem! Because a big part of the Les Roches way of life is to improve yourself continuously. Our campus is located in the middle of Europe; we are surrounded by different languages and cultures. So why not use this opportunity to widen your horizons?
Thanks to the Swiss trains and transportation, this country is really easy to travel in and out of. The most preferred destination for Les Rochians is the ‘city of fashion’ – Milan! It is the favorite destination since it is only three hours away by a comfortable train ride. Also, sometimes living in a village might make you realize how much you miss the colorful city life. It is a great opportunity to taste some gelato, as well as doing a bit of sightseeing and shopping.
Italy is not the only get-away destination. Germany is right next door – and even if you don’t make it over the German border, you can feel the different culture in Zurich before you arrive. Then there is France on our left. If you want to experience the ‘city of love’ – Paris – it is only six hours away by train. If you leave early in the morning you can arrive by the afternoon. Like Audrey Hepburn mentioned before, “Paris is always a good idea”.
Last but not least, Great Britain is only an hour’s flight away from us. It might be tricky, though, as the “8-permit” is not really applicable when going to UK. You do, unfortunately, have to obtain a visa prior to your travel.
Europe is obviously not limited to the countries I have mentioned. There are many more places to explore and enjoy. Every destination is only an hour’s flight away for you to go for a new adventure.
So pack your bags, take your passport, and be prepared to live the dream life!
