It’s been just over three months since the new school year began. For the older students, it’s been nice to return to something for familiar, but for the new ones it’s a whole new experience. Les Roches student Shalini Ramanayake interviewed a selection of Les Roches students to get a better insight into the school’s culture and personalities.
Hannah, BBA semester 2 – France
“Les Roches is lost in the mountains…when you arrive here for the first time, you feel like you’re never going to survive, but then you realize it is actually quite amazing. Where else can you find over 90 nationalities in one place? You can meet people from every country.”
“I head the Les Roches Hike Club, which does super fun excursions every other Sunday. It’s a nice way to get off the mountain and appreciate the beauty of Switzerland.”
Batool, BBA semester 4 – Pakistan
“I’m part of the Future of Hospitality Summit. The most interesting thing that happened to me today was interviewing a potential guest speaker, who was incredibly cool. He’s opening a performance lifestyle hotel, which is completely different from what you usually come across in hospitality.
“The last time I was in Pakistan was nine years ago. I’ve never lived there, so I’m not very accustomed to the lifestyle, but I consider myself Pakistani. My parents have instilled the culture in us.”
Julz, BBA semester 1 – The USA
“Last weekend it was my birthday. We caught the train to Florence and, when there, stumbled upon the Piazza del Duomo. We ate a lot of pasta and gelato, then went to a food market and bought traditional pasta to make when I got home. I go home in a week and a half, so I’ll bring Italian pasta back to my family, which they’ll love.”
