Cruising is booming – with luxury leading the way
The global cruise industry is on an exciting growth trajectory, with 34.6 million* passengers setting sail in 2024, a number that’s projected to rise to 42 million by 2028. The luxury segment in particular is seeing unprecedented expansion: since 2010, the number of luxury cruise ships on the water has more than trebled, while it is forecast that by 2028 around 1.5 million travelers a year will opt for a luxury cruise experience. This boom is being further fueled by the entry of prestigious hotel brands such as Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons into the high end cruise market, while an emphasis on voyages that are more sustainable and experiential is attracting growing numbers of younger travelers, enhancing the industry’s long-term prospects.
