This blog entry was written a fellow Les Roches Marbella BBA3 student and member of the Student Governance Association, Isabella de Mello.
For students at Les Roches Marbella, the SGA is part of our daily routine. We have clubs happening almost every day of the week during the entire semester, all run by the SGA. These include ones for physical activities such as Volleyball, Crossfit, Golf, Tennis and Dance Club but also Emerald Clubs such as Debate, Sustainability and Podcast Club. And last but not least, as proud hospitality students, we have the Food & Beverage Clubs, which include the Gastro, Wine and Mixology Club.
SGA is a community organized and dedicated association run by and for students, so any Les Roches student is welcome to create and develop their own club. If you have an idea for a new one, talk to the Head of Clubs and check out the best way to go about launching it.

But it’s not all about clubs. The SGA is also responsible for lots of different events happening during our school semester. The Welcome Party is usually the first event of the semester organized by SGA and is a great opportunity to meet colleagues, talk to people and start building your network. Sports Day is another big event. At the beginning of each semester, new students are randomly allocated to Houses (Blue, Green, Purple or Red House) and, during Sports Day, they compete with each other to find the winning house.
My favorite event of the semester is the Cultural Food Fair, where people of the same nationality get together and cook classic dishes from their country. It is super fun to walk around with your friends trying new cuisines and finding out more about other cultures – always a truly enriching experience. Of course, trying out new food is great, but equally exciting is to cook with the people who understand the feeling of missing that special food you love while you are away from home.
Some of the events the SGA organizes are particular to the time of the year, for example, the Halloween Party. And of course, there is the Prom. This is a really special event for our BBA7 students who are graduating and we, as students from other semesters, can also participate. When you have friends who are graduating and taking their next steps on their professional journey, it’s thrilling to be able to celebrate with them.
Having SGA as part of our community really does make a difference, enabling us to discover new hobbies, meet new friends, have fun, learn and grow. As a member of the SGA, I’m extremely excited about this semester and all the experiences it will bring me.
