The first semester of 2017 (2017.1) is already in full swing. We have been playing hard in sports tournaments and have been blessed with incredibly good weather during our past cultural outings. We have also visited some of the castles of Switzerland, joined the carnival parade in Sion, go shopping in Milan and taken a tour of the cheese and chocolate factories, including sightseeing in the historic town of Gruyère.
One of the great successes of this semester was our nighttime activity on Thursday, 23 February. We gathered at the golf course of Crans-Montana, which has a snow-tubing track. The idea of this activity is to slide down the hill in a pre-made parkour as fast as possible, chasing one another. You could go single or in groups of up to five people. For most of those who joined, this turned out to be the best outdoor activity of the season.
Another exciting activity on the program was our ski and snowboard race called “The Alpine Challenge Funky Fur.” This is a ski and snowboard downhill slalom competition for international students. During this competition both participants and spectators were dressed up in funny onesies that fit the “Funky Fur” theme. The Alpine Challenge is held each year at the piste “La Nationale” in Crans-Montana in collaboration with the Ecole Suisse de Ski. More about this event soon in another blog post.
But that’s not all — this semester, we will also have an amazing weekend in Europa Park, visit Bern, the capital of Switzerland, and more. For the sporty types we have a volleyball tournament, indoor soccer tournament, rugby game and even a paintball tournament. It is almost impossible to get bored!
