When I first came to Les Roches I would have never imagined my life where it is right now.
I still remember the first day I walked through those doors, I had this feeling that told me I was in the right place. At Les Roches you learn many skills that will help you in ways you would have never imagined. Yes, role call may seem at times to be strict or useless but trust me, this is your first step in the professional world. Until this day I can still hear Mr. Djeebet’s voice saying “Gentlemen jackets off” and you knew that your shirt had to be perfectly ironed! Those small details may not seem like too much but believe me, after working in actual hotels, I can tell you those details are what set you apart from the rest. When you see a colleague is not shaved or if he is not wearing black socks you think Mr. Djeebet should take his points away.
Those long hours you work in Marche (Lunch / Dinner shift) yes they do seem like they never end but this is the way you learn and gain all the necessary skills and experience before starting on your internship. All the skills I learned from Les Roches are what is helping me succeed in my Management Trainee program in Food and Beverage today. Those skills are also how I am helping and teaching my colleagues on how to provide an exceptional service.
With Les Roches’ internship program I got a opportunity to go to the most amazing places and meet incredible people. The first internship I went to the beautiful island of Mauritius where I made unforgettable memories and friends. I got to go on the longest zip line in Africa overlooking the sea and mountains, pet lions, and swim in the clearest water I have ever seen. Now I am in China experiencing and learning from a new culture. I saw the most beautiful palaces around China and I got a chance to learn so much about the Chinese culture, as well as try their famous and one of a kind local food. In general, I have to say that I am loving it. All of this is thanks to Les Roches providing me with opportunities to explore the world.
