When Stage Fair time arrives on campus, there is always a remarkable sense of pride present amongst our student body. Stage Fair is that one special day each semester when students returning from their international internships exhibit their unique experiences with their colleagues in an open forum that has become one of the most popular events held on campus in recent years.
The fair is all about a one on one exchange between peers. There are no formal presentations from multinational hotel groups or industry experts on this day. Instead, the students themselves exchange their thoughts, insights, and learning experiences from their internships at some of the world’s best known hotels.
While the Career Development and Internship Program Department dutifully source the best internship opportunities for our students in leading hotels around the world, with such an ample selection of hotels to choose from and in locations that span the globe, many students find themselves struggling with choosing the hotel that will benefit their personal goals to the fullest. So, Stage Fair is designed to help them narrow down their choices by talking directly with their colleagues who have already experienced working in these establishments.

Gaining invaluable insights
The insight gained by sharing experiences with each other is invaluable when it comes time to making the important decision of where to carry out an internship. The stage fair affords them a unique opportunity to visit each hotel choice first hand but without having to leave the campus. As a result, after the event most of them walk away with a clear idea and have made a shortlist of the establishments where they wish to pursue their next internship.
This week we held the first Stage Fair of 2013, with students proudly representing more than 20 of the most renowned hotel groups from around the world. Walking around the exhibition you could find all of the leading names in hospitality, and the list is long! On one side there was Grand Hyatt, Starwood, Four Seasons, Sheraton, Mandarin Oriental, Sofitel, and Thistle Hotels. On the other were the Intercontinental Hotel Group, Crown Plaza, Ritz Carlton, Gran Melia, Accor, Belive, Fairmont, Kempinski, Renaissance, and Landmark. And all of them were represented by excited and ambitious students who have worked for an entire semester learning the valuable skills they will need to lead successful careers in hospitality.
Seeing them come together in one place like Stage Fair reminds us that Les Roches Marbella is represented by the best future hospitality professionals working for the best companies in the industry. This is our goal.
