The hotel room of the future is now a reality in our practical arts training facilities on the campus of Les Roches Marbella. Providing students with innovative learning tools ensures they are well prepared to lead in global hospitality management upon earning their degrees. With the inauguration of the new automated demo hotel room on campus, Les Roches Marbella is bringing cutting edge technology and practical arts training together so that students can acquire the skills needed to enter the world’s most dynamic industry with an open and innovative mindset from the start.
Les Roches has formed collaborative partnerships with several tech-related and automation companies to develop an innovative hotel room environment in which students can learn the crucial hands-on skills needed to manage the complexity of a hotel’s rooms division department. It all begins with an energy management platform and interface by Hager that allows the guest to control ambient elements of their hotel room through their mobile device.
The room’s automation proceeds to the intelligent opening of doors made possible by a mobile device or proximity card with Bluetooth technology. The system, provided by Assa Abloy, offers online management for remote control opening devices. Students will receive in-depth training in the operation of these systems.
The demo room’s lighting technology involves LED fixtures by Eflux that intelligently adjust brightness, focus, and color temperatures to meet the desires of the guest. The traditional safe box is taken to the next level with Assa Abloy’s latest security technology. Thanks to the safe’s Bluetooth technology the guest can access the safe without the need to enter combination codes. Additionally, it allows portable devices to be charged while locked safely during the guest’s absence.
The fully articulated bed base with electric lift for easy cleaning and changing of bedding is supplied by Flex. The use of elevated beds is becoming a frequent element in hotels as they need to ensure employees are able to work efficiently and without being in compromising postures that may affect their long term health. Automatic beds allow the mattress to be raised to a comfortable height in which rooms division staff can comfortable change bedding.
Next, environmentally friendly and renewable cork with a wooden appearance has been used for the flooring surfaces. This latest generation of cork is provided by Amorin and is specifically engineered to improve the thermal and acoustic characteristics of the space. Grespania supplied their innovative bathroom tiles for walls and floors using porcelain materials that have been given an antibacterial treatment that oxygenates its surfaces in the presence of sunlight, thus maintaining pristine white walls and floors. The bedroom walls by Vescom are surfaced with a seamless vinyl wall covering that ensures durability and facilitates cleaning living areas.
