Les Roches Marbella was honored last week with the recognition of the 2014 Andalucía Excelente Award in the category for Excellence in Education. During a gala ceremony held at Hotel Villa Padierna, our institution’s achievements and dedication to educating international hospitality management professionals for nearly twenty years took center stage as the General Director of Les Roches Marbella, Carlos Díez de la Lastra, accepted the award on behalf of the school’s faculty and staff.
Commenting on this distinguished recognition to an audience that included businesses and government figures from across Andalusia, Mr. Díez de la Lastra pointed out that, “We are very fortunate because this project is unique in Spain. Ours is the only specialized international hospitality management college in our country.” You can watch Mr. Díez de la Lastra’s speech below (begins at 1:23:25).

The reception of the Award for Excellence in Education bolsters Les Roches Marbella’s recognition by the hotel industry as the number one international hotel management university in Spain and among the top six in the world. (Here are three reasons why we hold this distinction.) Following a 2013 hotel industry survey that revealed Les Roches Marbella’s status as a domestic and international leader in hospitality education, the school was further recognized with the One2One Award for Best Hospitality Management School in Spain.
During the ceremony a total of 32 regional entrepreneurs, businesses, and institutions received awards for excellence in representation of a wide range of industries and economic sectors. These included not only education, but also new technologies, innovation, healthcare, medical research, non-profit charity, quality control and service, best tourist destination, and more. The full list of award recipients and highlights from the gala can be found in an interactive full color supplement of the digital newspaper, La Razón.
