Last Friday, May 17, Les Roches Marbella played host to two well-known radio broadcasts from Cadena Ser. In the morning, programming from the Costa del Sol included interviews with the General Manager from the PYR Hotel Puerto Banus, which consequently is the same hotel where Les Roches Marbella held its very first classes back in 1995. The hotel’s General Manager gave his expert insights on the current state and future of tourism on the Costa del Sol with host Maria Angeles Cervantes.
This was followed by interviews from a group of international students from Les Roches Marbella. Darvin Chandru and Carolina Kabadne who talked about their career choice in Hospitality Management and their plans when they graduate and enter the workforce. Later in the morning Cadena Ser highlighted the importance of Golf to local tourism with interviews from LRM Golf Management lecturers Mr. Antonio Cantó, Ms. Susana Garrido, and Mr. Roberto Fernandez together with one of our Postgraduate in Golf Management students from Colombia, Santiago Ramirez.
The afternoon programming kicked off at 4:00PM with Cadena Ser’s popular national radio program, La Ventana with host Carles Francino. La Ventana boasts 1.9 million listeners each day and Friday’s broadcast featured a panel of respected guests, including exculsive interviews with LRM students and CEO, Dr. Maria Teresa Gozalo who discussed the current trends in tourism both in Spain and abroad. Broadcast in front of an audience of more than 300 guests, Mr. Francino spoke in depth about the imortance of tourism as the motor of the Spanish economy and how this important sector is being potentiated by Les Roches Marbella’s role in the education and preparation of young hospitality leaders who will lead the industry into the future.
The program’s correspondents toured the campus of Les Roches Marbella to get to know our student body and highlighted the daily routines of students Cristina Reynoso (Dominican Republic), and Mehdi Kebdani (Morocco). Later, Carles Francino sat with three more students Fiona Villa, Beatriz Estival and Pau Arbona to discuss on air their careers in hospitality and their future plans upon finishing their degrees.
To end the program, La Ventana, invited a panel of surprise guests that included famous Spanish comedians Javier Coronas (Canal+ Ilustres Ignorantes) and El Yuyu who entertained the audience and listeners with their humorous monologues. The event culminated with an exclusive musical performance by one of Spain’s rising stars, Soleá Morente together with Antonio Arias on guitar performing an acoustic version of Dormidos from her new album Habla de Encuentro (see video below).
