Monday, January 20th, marked the first day of classes at Les Roches Marbella in 2014. After a much anticipated return, we are honored to welcome undergraduate and postgraduate hospitality management students from sixty countries around the world on campus.
This semester is going to be an exciting one as we inaugurate the new “LRM House” program, a campus-wide fraternity styled initiative designed to build four teams that consist of the entire student body. The mission of the LRM House program is to continue to reinforce the emphasis we place on living and learning together in a community of mutual respect, while fomenting international friendships between different nationalities and cultures. The multifold goal of the House program is to build on students’ sense of belonging, to create healthy competition, a commitment to excellence, confidence, responsibility and, of course, teamwork.
Since this is the first semester of the House program, each house will be given the important task to develop their individual house name, motto, organizational guidelines, standards of excellence, and elect captains and prefects.
The decisions students make this semester on how to structure and identify each house will mark the beginning of a legacy that will be passed on to future students who form part of the same houses.
Throughout this semester the four houses will organize and participate in a number of events; from debates, exhibitions and academic competitions to Sports Day contests, an inter-campus football league, and on-campus social gatherings.
We are extremely excited to see LRM pride manifested in this new initiative during the coming months and we invite you, our readers, to follow our students here in the blog as they begin to build the LRM Houses. To our students: Let the games begin!
