With almost 200 stores and boutiques around the world, Moncler is an international luxury fashion brand with a rich heritage. Their style merges leading design with research and mountaineering knowledge, to create pieces that combine extreme needs with city living. So, why is a fashion brand recruiting hospitality students? We caught up with HR Director, Alexandre Gerno, to find out.
As soon as Alexandre began describing Moncler, it was easy to see why Les Roches students and graduates are a perfect match. “Moncler is a major player in the luxury industry, led by creativity and innovation. We are present globally all over the world, and still expanding.”
A luxury fashion brand that seeks the hospitality mindset
For Alexandre, an advanced hospitality education develops invaluable expertise and a unique mindset. “We recruit from hospitality schools because we think that people are the key value of our company. As a luxury company, we need to offer our clients wonderful service and hospitality is well known for the level of service it offers to clients.”
Talent that fits
After successfully recruiting for a specific area of the business in 2018, Moncler returned in 2019 to hire talent right across the organization. “We were there last year and it was mainly focused on hiring for our ski resorts boutique, and it was actually a very good experience. So we decided to come back and open up all the positions we have available in the company.”
Leaders in any industry
The expertise that students gain at Les Roches doesn’t just crossover into other industries – it enables them to be leaders in those industries. “We are looking for new talent for our managerial positions and we have a dedicated programme called MIT, Manager In Training, during which participants develop all the skills of a leader”, Alexandre commented. “How to animate a team, how to establish strong relationships with customers, operations, visual merchandising. At the end of this path we offer a managerial position within one of our boutiques all over the world.”
Perfect blend of ability and passion
Les Roches students bring strong commercial and strategic skills framed in a multicultural perspective, allowing them to perform and add value right across a business. “We also have corporate positions and each commercial region has its own corporate team in marketing, finance and HR, so these are also positions open to more senior people.”
“Our company is led by energy, so we want energetic people. Of course we also want people who are interested and passionate about fashion, people who have an open mind towards others, towards the relationship with customers, open to diversity, new opportunities. These are the main skills that we are looking for.”
