Mr. Carlos Díez de la Lastra Buigues has been appointed CEO/General Director of Les Roches Marbella. He is replacing Dr. Maria Teresa Gozalo, head of Les Roches Marbella since 1996. During this period Les Roches Marbella has established itself as the most prestigious university in Spain for an international career in hospitality management. (Clonazepam) Mr. Díez de la Lastra is committed to continuing the mark of excellence that distinguishes Les Roches Marbella as a leader in educating future international hospitality professionals.
Carlos Diez de la Lastra has extensive professional experience in the educational sector, where he has held positions of high responsibility in Laureate International Universities, parent organization of Les Roches Marbella and holders of a global network of more than 800,000 students in 75 higher education institutions in 30 countries around the world.
Prior to joining Les Roches Marbella, Mr. Díez de la Lastra held the positions of Vice President of Expansion of the Universidad Europea de Madrid and CEO of the Universidad Europea de Canarias. As head of the latter he was responsible for leading its implementation in the region by developing a quality educational model that is international, practical and adapted to the professional needs of its students. In addition to his extensive professional credentials in higher education, Mr. Díez de la Lastra holds a degree in Economics and Business Sciences from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a Master in Business Administration from the IEDE.
At the front of Les Roches Marbella, Carlos Diez de la Lastra is dedicated to maintaining and growing Les Roches Marbella’s academic excellence and longstanding reputation as a world leader in hospitality management education. In close collaboration with Les Roches International School of Hotel Management in Switzerland, he will be responsible for all faculty and administrative staff of the university, as well as the design, development and monitoring of all operations related to the university’s future growth.
On Thursday, February 13th, a celebratory act was held on campus to welcome Mr. Diez de la Lastra on board and pay tribute to the achievements of Dr. Maria Teresa Gozalo during her 18 year tenure as the CEO of Les Roches Marbella. In her farewell speech, Dr. Gozalo took stock of the work done noting that more than 3,000 students have passed through the halls of Les Roches Marbella over this time period. The event was attended by the Mayor of Marbella, the Honorable Angeles Muñoz and other notable authorities from local and regional goverment institutions.
In her speech Dr. Gozalo noted that, “today our students are active in numerous hotels in over 54 countries around the world. Among them, over 60 percent occupy upper management and supervisory roles. This achievement is the result of a tremendous collective effort and one of the keys to Les Roches Marbella’s success.”
Meanwhile the new General Director of Les Roches Marbella, Carlos Diez de la Lastra, noted that the work of Dr. Gozalo highlighted the many challenges that Les Roches Marbella faced in reaching its prestigious distinction as a world-class Hotel Management School. During his speech Mr. Díez de la Lastra said, “Providing our students with a set of skills and the development of their professional knowledge, providing the right tools for management, planning and control, and to instill a set of strong ethical principles must be, among others, the basic objectives for a university like Les Roches Marbella. These basic objectives will continue to deepen the traditional values espoused by Les Roches Marbella, while helping us to anticipate the needs of our industry in the next generation of hotel managers.”
He continued by stating that the “values such as the pursuit of excellence in training, ongoing collaboration with the companies in our sector to facilitate the employability of our students and the commitment to the culture of entrepreneurship all play important roles in the university’s success.”
