When you study at Les Roches, we ensure you work closely with industry. From professional internships to industry visits, you get to enjoy face-to-face interactions with some of the world’s biggest hospitality organisations. To ensure this continues, we held our first Career and Recruitment Day of the year on Wednesday 14 March.
Once again, it proved to be an amazing success. 900 students were able to meet with 160 recruiters from 72 top companies. Some of the world’s most renowned industry leaders also provided insightful educational workshops. Let’s hear what our students and visitors had to say about the event.
Meeting with the best
Holding a Career Day has always proved popular with our students, and March’s event was no exception. “The advantage of having a Career and Recruitment Day on campus is that you get to see so many companies all at once,” said BBA Global Hospitality Management student Tom Tabouring, currently in his seventh semester. Vipula Bhagwani, also in her seventh semester, agreed. “It’s a very open, casual setting, where you can approach a company and have a good conversation,” she said. “I’ve met with Bloomberg, IHG China and Accor.”
Other companies in attendance included the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Expedia and Zuma. “I really enjoyed the Career and Recruitment Day,” said Carolina Mazza, currently in her fourth semester of the BBA degree. “I think it’s a great opportunity for students to meet lots of different companies.”
Lachlan Bond, Vice-President of Les Roches’ Student Governance Association, also enjoyed the event. “It’s a great opportunity to talk to the companies you want to work for and get information that is relevant,” he said. (Ultram)
Why our students are in demand
Our Career and Recruitment Days reinforce just how popular our students are with global organisations. “Les Roches students are dynamic, responsive and learn in an international culture,” said Maggie Zheng, Senior Director of Talent Resource at IHG. “They also have a lot of experience from internships.”
This is echoed by Sophie Carick, Development manager at Soho House. “All of the students we’ve had from Les Roches have been professional, committed to hospitality, and offered something different,” she said.
Syed Asim Hussain, Co-Founder of Black Sheep Restaurants, recruits Les Roches students for more than just their skills. “We look for good students with good personalities,” he said. “Les Roches students are down-to-earth, humble, ambitious and entrepreneurial.”
Our Career and Recruitment Days are a fantastic way for students to learn from industry experts, network with professionals and secure employment. The next Career and Recruitment Day takes place on Thursday 25 October.
